Abstract A series of alkali metal salts dithiocarbamate‐substituted carboxylate (DTCC) anions were prepared by reaction the parent amino acids with carbon disulfide and an hydroxide. The target compounds, which isolated in anhydrous form or as hydrates, extensively characterized elemental analyses, IR NMR spectroscopy, thermal cyclic voltammetry, single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction. compounds are more less hygroscopic display a varying dehydratization decomposition behavior upon heating. assumed degradation DTCC scaffold was found to depend on substitution pattern well counterion, covers range between 200 340 °C. In aqueous solution, show irreversible electrochemical oxidations, where corresponding redox potentials governed nitrogen atom. Single‐crystal structural analyses sodium potassium derivatives revealed that these exist two‐ three‐dimensional coordination polymers solid state, alkali‐metal ions adopting typical irregular environments numbers six higher.
